Income Tax Due Date for AY 2022-2023

The last date to file Income Tax Return (ITR) for FY 2021-22 (AY 2022-23) without late fee is 31st July 2022.

For Individual /HUF /AOP / BOI (books of accounts not required to be audited) 31st July 2022, 

Businesses (Requiring Audit) 31st October 2022,

Businesses (Requiring TP Report) 30th November 2022

But CBDT extends ITR Filing Income Tax Due Date for AY 2022-23, The CBDT has notified that the due date for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) u/s 139(1) for Assessment Year (AY) 2022-23 has been extended from 31/10/2022 to 07/11/2022 for corporate assesses or where tax audit is applicable.

What happens when the due date is passed? belated ITR

As per Section 234F of the Income Tax Act, a penalty of Rs 5,000 is levied on a person filing a belated ITR. However, small taxpayers with taxable income up to Rs 5 lakh will have to pay a penalty of Rs 1000 only. This late filing fee has to be deposited before starting the late ITR filing process.

If you haven't filed yet, you'll need a fine, After the due date is passed, you will need a minimum of 1,000 rupees and a maximum of 5,000 thousand rupees as fine. if your total annual income/ salary above 2,50,000 rupees, then you have to fine of 1,000 thousand and your income above 5 Lakh, then you pay late fine 5,000 thousand. if your annual income above 5 lakh then You have to file compulsory.

Note: File as soon as possible, as this year may not allow filing until after December 2022, so if you haven't yet, do so. If you have filed earlier Similarly, if any mistake was made while filing an original income tax return, the taxpayer has a chance to correct it by filing a revised income tax return. within 31st December 2022, even though the income tax department increases the due date, you cannot revise your return.
